Developers Journal: The Pytheas Club

May 12, 2008 - 12:33pm
Well, I've gotten large parts of The Pytheas Club written already--the intro, the club section, the sample adventure, and the sample PCs. I've also got several appendices. The big hunk of work that I have to do next is going to be writing the world section, what there is and what's going on politically, culturally and scientifically (And no, Sherlock Holmes won't be written for another 10 years at least.)

I think I'm going to put a timeline in this one that shows when certain things happen in relation to the game.

Developers Journal: Mountains of the Moon--Sindbad in East Africa

March 18, 2008 - 11:01am
Well, I sent my final writer's draft off to the Creative Director this past weekend. I tried to address the concern of most of the people who commented to me, but I suspect there will still be some parts that need tweaking.

This weekend I will need to mock up a light table and make some maps of East Africa and of some of the more important pieces of coast. I may need to beg help from Mr. Burnett in making these things that belong in a game book (Dad was the artist in my family.)

Hex Rolls Out The Book of Dumb Tables

February 27, 2008 - 4:12am
What is it about random tables that gamers love so much? Perhaps it's the sense of danger, like the rush a gambler in Vegas feels when he's bet it all on one roll of the dice. Or perhaps its the limitless potential those columns represent, the unexpected ways to break out of a gaming rut. Either way, QAGS: The Book of Dumb Tables has all the tables you need to spice up your games.

Need an idea for a game? Try the PC Group Table or the High Concept Table. Need a name for your silver age super-hero? Need to know who would play him or her in the movie? GM, do you need a plot twist? A random encounter? A sound effect? A Bruce Willis movie? The Book of Dumb Tables has all these things, and more.

QAGS: The Book of Dumb Tables includes 35 tables, not including the Table of Contents. It is designed for use with QAGS, the Quick Ass Game System, but can be used with nearly any game system.

The Book of Dumb Tables is available at drivethrurpg.com, paizo.com, rpgnow.com, and yourgamenow.com.

Get more random. Have more fun!
